The Lion King 3D

3D trend was still red when Disney executives began talking Lion King conversion to 3D. But these things take time, and what a difference a few years can make. Given the disappointing performance of 3-D conversions in theaters this year, and the fact that the 2D ticket sales are selling better in 3D, which must have seemed like a wise decision today seems almost as if the studio is playing with one of his most famous animated features.

But this is not the first time Disney has experimented with converting a 3D animation older. Back in 2006, before the craze really hit 3D, they re-released a 3D conversion of The Nightmare Before Christmas in film. Naturally, the next step was to turn to their library features traditional animation for another candidate. They found it in 1994, great success of The Lion King still holds the record for highest grossing animated film ever 2D. The highlight of the animation renaissance that began in 1989 with The Little Mermaid, The Lion King executives sweet spot with beautiful animation, catchy pop songs by Elton John and Tim Rice, memorable characters and a compelling story.

The Lion King 3D

Loosely based on the starting point for Hamlet (with some nuances biblical), The Lion King tells Simba (voice of his early years, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, then by Matthew Broderick), a lion kitten, who dreams of the day 'll be the king of the jungle, just like his father, Mufasa (voiced by James Earl Jones' majestic). Of course, you realize that to make him king, his father is dying. This sad event comes too soon, because of interference in his jealous uncle Scar (Jeremy Irons delightfully smarmy). When Mufasa dies trying to save Simba from Wildebeest Stampede, scar threw the guilt by convincing the young Simba, has no place among the other lions in the Pride Lands. Scar power to reign, and Simba's mother at his side.

Tyre Simba away in the wilderness, never to return. There he meets the carefree couple Timon and Pumbaa, a meerkat (Nathan Lane) and boar (Ernie Sabella), raising the philosophy of Hakuna Matata Simba, or "do not worry." But he can not live this life forever. The adult Simba confronts his old friend Nala (Moira Kelly) and falls in love. She tries to convince him to return home and end the terror reign of Scar, but not until the past returns to haunt him, literally, as the spirit of his father, Simba finally accepts his fate. The film culminates in a climactic battle at the top of the rock as Simba's Pride Scar faces and discover the truth about the death of his father.

3D transformations go, this is not too annoying, it does not sound like much, but in reality is a lot of praise. Films, which were not originally described in 3D, ideal for the presentation does not interfere with the viewing experience technology poorly calibrated and headache-causing effects. When the first five minutes or so you should not forget that you are watching a 3D movie, and commit to what is happening on the screen. With the exception of some glitches from time to time seen at the edges, this is the case of The Lion King. By the time all the animals come to see the presentation of Simba in "Circle of Life" number that you have not thought about the depth of image, but what a great opening and moving.

From all forecasts, this new edition is ready for the assault at the box office this weekend, maybe even beating the new versions. It 'just to prove that it is never the quality of the film goes out of fashion. Although none of the original Disney animated 3D presentation of magic makes it difficult, you can not say he is doing much better either. The film is quite large, because it was originally released, it does not need fancy bells and whistles of technology to make it better. Yet there is something to say about the experience of seeing the Lion King is a large cinema screen again, and fans of the film, young and old, that's magic enough.
